A survey of 5G-enabled smartphones in the country yields unexpected data. Bihar, for example, has 9.3 percent of all 5G-enabled smartphones in the country, according to a report by OpenSignal. Bihar is just behind Andhra Pradesh, which has the maximum 5G smartphones in the country with a share of 14 percent.
The data on smartphones was collected by the research firm between May 29 and July 2022.
Delhi is seventh on the list with a share of 6.7 percent. Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh are in fact ahead of Delhi. Mumbai and Kolkata are low in the pecking order with 3.6 percent and 1.2 percent share of 5G smartphones available in India.
Madhya Pradesh, UP West and Karnataka have between 5.3 percent and 5.9 percent of the 5G-enabled smartphones in the country.
OpenSignal estimates that about 9.7 percent of smartphones in the country are already 5G capable.
