Emotional moment of moment of silence held in Commons before Liz Truss pays heartfelt tribute

Members of Parliament held a minute of silence for the Queen today at a special session of Parliament in memory of Her Majesty.

The moment of respect was followed by Liz Truss paying tribute to the MP in honor of the Queen’s life.

The Prime Minister said: “Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II was one of the greatest leaders the world has ever known.

“She was the rock on which modern Britain is built.”

Mrs. Truss praised the “devoted” Monarch and “her words of wisdom”.

“She gave us hope that we would meet again,” the prime minister said.

“She gave her consent to numerous pieces of legislation and has been at the center of our national life for seven decades.”

Ms Truss described how yesterday “changed our lives forever in an instant” yesterday.

“Today we show the world that we are not afraid of what lies ahead.”

The Commons and Lords are sitting today for a special session where MPs and colleagues can pay tribute to the Queen.

Dressed in black, MPs reminisce about the incredible legacy Her Majesty left behind.
