Philips activates surround sound on its TVs to wirelessly send audio to compatible speakers

Xperi is the company behind the DTS or IMAX Enhanced sound system and has today announced an enhanced version of DTS Play-Fi that we are already familiar with. An improvement that comes thanks to the support to offer audio up to 7.2.4 channels that also do not require cables to go from the television to the speakers.

The brand has announced this enhancement for DTS Play-Fi Home Theater, through the original DTS Play-Fi wireless audio platform. An improvement that Philips TVs can take advantage of to connect the speakers without the need for cables.

Immersive wireless audio

The DTS Play-Fi Home Theater System enables: wirelessly connect compatible speakers and subwoofers to your TV for an enhanced audio experience, and some Philips speakers can now take advantage of this improvement.

In particular, the models will be compatible with 7.2.4 channel wireless audio. Philips OLED937, OLED907, OLED807, OLED707, PML9507 and PUS8807 of line 2022.

In this way audio can be sent wirelessly to a Philips soundbar, with for example the Fidelio FB1 compatible, which together with the FS1 speaker and the FW1 subwoofer enables surround audio. These speakers and soundbar are interconnected and capable of both working in isolation and forming a home theater set wireless.

In addition, the advent of 7.2.4-channel audio without wires will not prevent televisions compatible with the older Play-Fi speaker ecosystem.
